Island U is located in the north-east arm of Larder Lake. The property is approx 111.89 acres and is the only private ownership on this island. Approx 7 kilometers (4.4 miles) of picturesque shoreline that envelopes this natural beauty.

The town of Larder Lake is to the west, and Virginiatown & Kearns are just to the east. Access is by way of a public boat launch in Larder Lake and Virginiatown has a lovely marina and public launch. The boat ride from here is quite quick and a straight shot, so it is very easy to navigate your way there.

As you can see from the images, the mainland is not too far away but far enough to maintain your privacy.

From the topographic mapping the island’s southern section has a slow incline towards the north. This southern point is where we docked. The terrain is rugged by nature, with rocky outcroppings to rich over burden and mature trees. The island is heavily treed with a mix of Pines, Spruce, Poplars and Birch trees.

This property and setting are ideal for a naturalist, a birdwatcher, anglers or a family seeking new adventures.

Larder Lake is the largest lake along the 66 highway corridor. It is a big lake being just over 3700 hectares, with a max depth of 33 meters and an average depth of 12 meters. On our visit to the island, we caught several small mouth bass around the shores of the island.

Also noted on-line the lake holds pickerel, northern pike, trout and whitefish. This lake is stocked by the MNRF.
